<figure><img src="/files/rzukmfVT3Fcrq1GlYe5B" alt=""><figcaption><p>The drawdown curve on the General Analytics page</p></figcaption></figure>

The drawdown curve tells you how much you're down from your all time-high. This means that if the drawdown curve is near 0 all the time you're likely making constant all-time-high's in your returns.

***

## Metrics

<figure><img src="/files/1fELA8M35ay0DkxzfP54" alt=""><figcaption><p>All the metrics we calculate</p></figcaption></figure>

Each metric is self-explanatory and the ones that aren't like Sharpe ratio, sortino ratio etc. are all explained on the page, just hover over the ![](/files/yOhFrBjf49OQP7fXUqAY) icon next to the name in order to get an explanation for what it measures.

***

## Holdtime Analytics

<figure><img src="/files/v4MxSOfdBYv1fJpqGsSV" alt=""><figcaption><p>Holdtime analytics on the General Analytics page</p></figcaption></figure>

In the Holdtime section you can see your trading stats broken down by the holdtime of the trade (how long it was open for).

You can choose between three modes:

* Regular
* Short Term
* Long Term

Each of these will show different holdtime intervals, short-term may be more interesting for scalpers/day traders, long-term for swing traders and regular should be useful for everyone

***

## Trading Session Analytics

<figure><img src="/files/fACbgU9Q02a7pwfBbdR9" alt=""><figcaption><p>Session analysis widget</p></figcaption></figure>

In crypto the markets are open 24/7 but in traditional financial markets there are certain times the markets are open. The three main ones are:

| Market   | Region | Open time (UTC+0) | Close Time (UTC+0) |
| -------- | ------ | ----------------- | ------------------ |
| New York | US     | 13:00 / 1pm       | 22:00 / 10pm       |
| London   | Europe | 07:00 / 7am       | 16:00 / 4pm        |
| Tokyo    | Asia   | 00:00 / Midnight  | 09:00 / 9am        |

The idea is that the markets move more during these periods as there are more traders active from each region during these times.

{% hint style="info" %}
Since the markets are technically not open on weekends you can decide if you want to include data for weekends or not. It may be useful to you if you still trade during the weekends yourself.

## Chart

### Normalizing X-axis

<figure><img src="/files/4LGka8Nb5VLYZ21H6uns" alt=""><figcaption><p>What normalizing the X-axis does</p></figcaption></figure>

If you are comparing performance for different days of the week you might have more trades for i.e Thursdays compared to other days. This would make it harder to interpret the chart, so to fix this you can click ![](/files/PNBaFvrtOfQGqQ6hTm6r)&#x20;

Clicking normalize x-axis will make all the PnL Curves the same length so it is more easy to compare them, no matter how many or how few trades a certain PnL Curve has.

## MAE and MFE&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/wRec0Qp1SjexCRM6BctC" alt=""><figcaption><p>The MAE and MFE during a trade </p></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
The price indicates the MAE/MFE price, the percentage indicates how much the price went against you or for you.
{% endhint %}

### MAE - Maximum Adversial Excursion

The MAE of a position is the price at which the position was the furthest away from your entry in the "wrong" direction. If you had a long position this is often the lowest price during the trade and for a short it would be the highest price during a trade.<br>

Essentially, it's the point during the trade where your position likely had the largest unrealized loss.&#x20;

***

### MFE - Maximum Favorable Excursion

This is the opposite of MFE. For a long trade it's usually the highest price during a trade and for a short trade it's usually the lowest price.\
\
Essentially, it's the pricepoint at which you likely had the largest amount of unrealized profit for your trade.

***

## Planned and actual R:R

{% hint style="info" %}
R:R stands for Risk to Reward Ratio and is meant to illustrate how much you were able to win from the position relative to how much you risked, you can read more about in this Investopedia article: <https://www.investopedia.com/terms/r/riskrewardratio.asp>
{% endhint %}

### Planned R:R

This is the R:R that you had planned to achieve when you opened the position. The value is calculated based on inputted stoploss and targets that you manually add in TradeStream, you can read more about how to do that by going to the page linked below

{% content-ref url="/pages/gwECNqXqpy6SDv6wRINj" %}
[Stoploss & Targets](/journal/trade-details/stoploss-and-targets)
{% endcontent-ref %}

***

### Actual R:R

The actual R:R is calculated in two ways depending on if you have manually inputted your stoploss or not

#### Formula

We use the below formula to calculate actual R:R. If you won the trade we use the positive value of Actual R:R, if you lost the trade we make the value negative.\
\
$$\text{Actual R:R} = \frac{|\text{entry} - \text{exit}|}{|\text{entry} - \text{stoploss}|}$$

{% hint style="info" %}
If you have not inputted your stoploss we use your position's MAE as a substitute for the stoploss
{% endhint %}

***

## Fees and Funding

These just tell you how much you paid or earned in fees for entering or exiting the position and how much you paid or earned in funding fees during the course of the trade.\
\
If the values are green it means you earned money, if they're red it means you paid money.

<br>

# Notes

To input notes just write the notes and then press outside of the notes window to save them

<figure><img src="/files/4T457DJ9A8zhgYCxfWfc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Tags & Tag Manager

{% hint style="info" %}
The tag manager is used to rename or delete a certain tag from multiple trades at once, to add tags to a trade use the tag input window, shown below
{% endhint %}

## Adding and Deleting individual tags

<figure><img src="/files/F1uBVMNHgU1fBcRuaCLK" alt=""><figcaption><p>Inputting tags and deleting them</p></figcaption></figure>

Inputting and deleting tags is very straightforward, to add a new tag just start writing it and when you want to add it press enter or the Add \<tag> button in the dropdown menu that pops up.

To Delete a tag just press the "X" next to the tag name.

***

## Tag manager

To open the tag manager press the Tag Manager link in the Tags window:![](/files/C7Qgj4wvBAI1YlrdbAEE)

When you do that you'll get shown the tag manager menu:

<figure><img src="/files/hNZdWMlYphhky7QxvE4X" alt=""><figcaption><p>Tag manager pop-up</p></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="danger" %}
If you delete a tag in the tag manager that tag is removed from all trades where it has been added. Once you do this you cannot reverse the decision
{% endhint %}

In the tag manager you can either delete or rename a certain tag across all trades. So if you have the tag `Failed breakout` and rename it in the tag manager then it will be renamed everywhere, not only for the trade you are currently looking at.

# Filtering

How filters work

Almost every page on TradeStream has filters. Currently we allow for the following types of filtering:

<figure><img src="/files/QpBio7QzoroK5JHF6svY" alt=""><figcaption><p>The filter bar</p></figcaption></figure>

* **Status Filtering (Win or Loss)**
* **Filter by Symbol/Ticker**
* **Filter by Date & Time**
  * You can choose if the filtering should be based on open time or close time
    * Range (all trades within a certain boundary)
    * After (all trades after a certain date and time)
    * Before (all trades before a certain date and time
* **Filter by side (buy=long, short=sell)**
* **Filter by exchange**
* **Filter by holdtime**

***

## Using Filters

<figure><img src="/files/2M0R0uH6yXnytJrPmRAI" alt=""><figcaption><p>Filters go brrrrr</p></figcaption></figure>

You can add however many filters you want. Currently there are two filter types:

* Inclusive (Only show trades **WITH** this attribute i.e: Trades for BTCUSDT)
* Exclusive (Only show trades **WITHOUT** this attribute i.e: Trades not for BTCUSDT)

<figure><img src="/files/NpImjl9pojmpJdkFrQmD" alt=""><figcaption><p>In this example we exclude all trades that are Buys/Longs, so only shorts will be shown</p></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
If you filter by for example tags we use "OR" logic. This means if you search for trades that use the tag "bull" and "big win" you will get trades that have either one of these two tags or both. In the future we will add "AND" logic so that you can filter for trades that have certain combinations of tags or other attributes.
{% endhint %}

***

### Date & Time Filtering

<figure><img src="/files/cSrUsCvHjIKjrPj9KU0L" alt=""><figcaption><p>Date &#x26; Time Filter</p></figcaption></figure>

Like previously mentioned, for date & time filtering you can either decide if the filter should be based on the open or close time of the trade.

Then from there you can choose three modes:

* Before (all trades before a certain date and time
* After (all trades after a certain date and time)
* Range (all trades within a certain boundary)

{% hint style="warning" %}
You need to press ![](/files/6BhY8mP5MY4XmQKWI7rg) after selecting your filter in order to have it set
{% endhint %}

You can either choose filter by pressing one of the presets in the left-side menu or manually select the dates you want to filter by

# Permanent Filters

How they work

{% hint style="info" %}
Permanent Filters are like normal filters but they are always applied and they're applied to all pages on TradeStream even if you log out and login again. \
\
**Example:** You want to hide all trades before a certain date, so you set a permanent filter to only show you trades that occured after a certain date.
{% endhint %}

## Setting Permanent Filters

You can also go to the settings page to change them

{% embed url="<https://tradestream.xyz/account/preferences>" %}

# Breakeven Filter

How to set Breakeven filter and how it works

{% hint style="info" %}
In the Breakeven Filter you set a range for which trades to count as "breakeven" AKA they weren't wins or losses. These trades are excluded from all win rate statistics and don't affect the percentage.\
\
**Example:** You trade a $100 000 account and when you exit trades at that win or lose you less than $10 you don't want to count them towards your wins or losses. So you set a Breakeven filter for $10 and now all trades that lose or win less than $10 are ignored for win rate statistics
{% endhint %}

***

## Where to find it

You can either find it by pressing the ![](/files/ZEoKf96KpfgYPeBA8Hg7) button on the homepage ![](/files/54xna9JXsv2v0PGWvUs7)\

# Security & Privacy

How we secure your data

We take a lot of steps to secure your data. We'll explain how we store and secure your data below. <br>

**Note:** Some of the methods we use to protect your data are not included below as they would lose some of their effectiveness if we publicly disclosed them.

***

## Data Storage and Encryption

<figure><img src="/files/lw6tuipLQvrUur9wbjaL" alt=""><figcaption><p>This is an example for illustration purposes.</p></figcaption></figure>

TradeStream downloads your trading data from exchanges and we store in in our servers in order to display your trading analytics. \
\
All of your trading data is encrypted in our databases using symmetric AES256 encryption multiple times. So even if someone manages to get access to TradeStream's databases they still will not be able to read your personal data.

***

### Rotating encryption keys

The encryption keys used to encrypt your data are changed on an undisclosed schedule. This is so that even if someone figures out our encryption key, by the time they've figured it out we will already be using a new set of encryption keys to secure your data. Which would mean your data stays safe.

***

### API Key Security and Encryption

To see more information on how API Keys are secured please refer to the page on API Key Security and Encryption.

### Backups

We take frequent backups of your data so that in case of some catastrophic technical failure we should be able to continue services as normal with at most the past few hours of data lost.

# API Key Security

How we secure your API Keys

We employ similar methods to secure your API Keys as we use to secure your trading data but with a few changes to make it even more secure.\
\
Once again, in order to preserve the security of your API Keys we have avoided discussing certain methods that we use to ensure your API Keys safety in order to preserve their efficiency.

***

## Read-only Keys

All API Keys submitted to TradeStream have to be read-only. This means that the API Keys are only authorized to read data from your exchange accounts. They cannot be used to submit orders, transfer funds or withdraw money.

{% hint style="warning" %}
TradeStream's systems will automatically reject any keys that are not read-only. This is done for your safety.
{% endhint %}

**In the worst case scenario:** Even if a hacker gets access to your API Keys through TradeStream they would not be able to steal your money or submit trades with them. The worst they would be able to do is download your trading history.

***

## Encryption

Just as with your trading data all API Keys are encrypted multiple times using AES256 encryption. Although we use different encryption keys for API Keys and trading data.

### Rotating encryption keys

Similarly to trading data we regularily change the encryption keys used for API Keys and with that re-encrypt API Keys with the fresh encryption keys.&#x20;

But for API Keys we switch the encryption keys on a more frequent schedule in order to ensure less of a chance that anyone can crack your API Keys encryption.

***

## Decryption

Your API keys are only decrypted when they need to be used to sign requests to your exchange's API.

This means that until the API Keys need to be used they are always encrypted. As soon as they've been used they are re-encrypted to ensure their safety.

Additionally, only certain secured TradeStream servers possess the encryption keys used for API Keys.
